Brown colors

Brown is orange with the saturation pulled out, and it behaves like a warm neutral rather than a hue. That makes it genuinely useful: it grounds a palette the way grey does but without the chill. Chocolate and espresso work as dark surfaces, tan and camel work as mid-tone backgrounds, and both pair with almost anything.
