Neutral colors

Neutrals do most of the work in any real design system — they are the surfaces, the borders, the body text. The decision that matters is temperature: a grey with a blue undertone reads clinical and technical, a grey with a warm undertone reads editorial and calm. Mixing both in one system is the most common reason a palette feels subtly wrong.
